CHICAGO REGIONAL ART PROGRAM GRANT APPLICATION
March 2010

FALL ARTS GRANT CYCLE OPEN!!

We are now accepting applications for the Third cycle of 2010 - the Fall Cycle of Arts Grants!

B.U.R.N. is pleased to announce the availability of art grants intended to help defray the costs of materials and transportation related to creating and presenting works of art at Burning Man-related events. The updated deadline for applications for this last grant cycle of 2010 (The Fall Cycle) is Sunday, August 1st, with recipients to be announced approximately one week later.

Applications received after 11:59pm on Sunday, August 1st will have missed this year's window for Arts Grants, and will need to be re-submitted for the 2011 grant cycles.

Over the course of three cycles in 2010 we will be awarding up to $4,300 of grants, from funds raised at local events. Grants are in amounts from $50 - $500 and are intended as supplementary funding to help you build your project. The Art Grant Committee reserves the right to award less than the requested amount and/or pay in installments, based on completion milestones.

Proposals will be evaluated based on the following (in no particular order):

  • Quality: creativity/interactivity/thoughtfulness/originality/excitement/ inspiration/social value
  • Execution: planning/feasibility/safety plan/clean-up plan/budget/time-line/past work/exhibition program
  • ** The Committee may ask for additional information or explanation from applicants.

Grant winners will sign a contract stating their intent to:

  • create the proposed art piece within proposed time frame
  • present the art as promised in the distribution plan.
  • present copies of detailed receipts greater than or equal to grant amount within 30 days of final grant award reimbursement.
  • provide photos and a short follow-up report, as well as sign a release for publicity purposes
  • return funds if project is not completed or be included on a public “deadbeat list”
  • include the phrase “Funded in part by the Bold Urban Regional Network Art Grant Committee” on any and all promotional materials
  • (grant winners will also have to sign some other paperwork with the contract)
  • IMPORTANT!! Please create a user account before filling out the Grant Application Form - this will allow you to save your work in progress, and re-edit it when you log back in. You can submit an application without a user name, but you can't edit or update it once you leave the site. It only takes a moment to create a user account, its fast and its free!

Please fill out this form to the best of your ability providing additional attachments, charts, images and spreadsheets when appropriate, and email as an attachment to bmc-arts@googlegroups.com, thank you so much for applying! You Rule!

The Art Grant Committee will carefully review your application and notify you in a timely manner. Don’t be discouraged if you are not awarded a grant. We have limited funds and are forced to make tough decisions about where to apply them.
